Parc de la Villette & Paris

Parc de la Villette (completed in 1987) is a huge Parisian park (35.5 hectares) with concert venues, gardens, playgrounds, a science museum, le Conservatoire de Paris and an outdoor cinema . . . oh, and a sculptural steel dragon with an 80 foot slide! A very urban park, designed in the spirit of architectural deconstructivism. They've done a pretty good job with waste receptacles too.

Near one of the "follies" (extravagant architectural decorations meant to serve as directional aids for park-goers, perhaps also reminiscent of the old industrial fabric of the area).

Before the outdoor movie screening there was a clever ad reminding people to put their waste in its place and informing people about the location of garbage and recycling islands. I couldn't find the film ad but here is one from an electronic recycling event hosted by the park:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNPUa9v3w_E
La Villette also has workshops for kids including recycling crafts (using recycled objects to make art).

Outside the park, elsewhere in Paris, but still a space-age sort of look to the bin.
