Benches with Bins

As good a place as any? Easy to locate a bin beside a bench. Convenient to toss something into. Too convenient? Attractive to sit beside trash? At bus stops and in gardens these two objects are often paired.

Bins at Upper Clements Provincial Park (a throwback to the days of refundable versus rubbish; in Nova Scotia, however, deposits are still paid on all beverage containers (10 cents for smaller containers or 20 cents for larger ones) with half the deposit refundable when bottles are redeemed. More info here:

Chicago (and Coca-Cola) do(es) recycling

This makes me wonder about the marketing behind the label and flashy association of coca-cola with recycling.

A quick google search sounds like this is part of their "goal to recycle 100 percent of plastic bottles in the U.S." ...(by no determined date). ...Which makes me think a little about greenwashing and that old saying about how 'recycling is like quiting smoking on you death bed'.
